More Blood for Adelaine
We’ll, thankfully we made it through Christmas and New Year’s without being in the hospitalon those important days! Doug and I rang in the New Year at the theater watching, “The Holiday”. It was fun and relaxing, which after 2006, was a great way to enter into the New Year!!!
Adelaine went in on Friday to have her blood levels checked, and again she needed a blood infusion. As Anissa pointed out on Peyton’s website, @www.Hope4peyton.org., a blood transfusion is when they take blood out as they put new blood in, and an infusion is when they only put in new blood). So an infusion was ordered. We were admitted into the hospital because it took so long to get the blood ready. Eleven long hours later the infusion was complete and we were on our way!
Since the infusion, Adelaine has been feeling much better. She has more energy and her color is nice and peachy. As the steroids work their way out of her system, her swelling is going down, she sleeps well at night and is able to take a good nap during the day!!!
Adelaine is enjoying having both her brothers’ home during the holidays. We will all be a little sad when Christmas break is over. On Monday, it’s back to school again. Because Mason is gone all day, it will be especially hard for us. He is so light hearted and really enjoys being here with the family. To be so serious, he’s developed quite a sense of humor. He even enjoys himself when Bowen is up to mischief!!! It’s so funny to watch as he interacts with the younger ones. On the other hand it does make a big difference to be able to fully focus on Adelaine during her treatments.
On Tuesday Jan. 9th, Adelaine is scheduled to have a very big day at the hospital with port and spinal injections, and the like. It breaks my heart to here her ask with tears in her eyes, “What are they going to do wish me, now?” Like my baby girl has turned into a human science experiment or something. Her day will start off at the clinic early in the morning and end after a very long day at the hospital. As she is not allowed anything to eat after midnight the night before and until all the procedures are finished, the day is set up to be a difficult one from the very start.
