The Powell’s ABC’s Of Great Health For 2009!

Wishing You a Happy & Healthy New Year, from A to Z!!! Cancer has opened our eyes and inspired us to get healthy. We’ve spent months researching, and would like to share what we learned with our loved ones. Here’s some of what we’ve discovered…
A~ Aluminum-It doesn’t belong around our food or in our deodorant. Potatoes don’t have to be wrapped, just poke holes before baking and place on the rack. No more canned foods!
B~ Because we don’t always eat healthy, we take “Mona Vie”, “Juice Plus”, Acidophilus, Flax seed oil and Apple Cider Vinegar daily! This is a great way to stay healthy.
C~ Cookware- Nonstick cookware/ aluminum pots leave carcinogens behind. Cast iron enameled cookware is best! Stoneware works in place of traditional baking pans.
D~ Dusting and Cleaning- Using non-toxic wood cleaner is a great idea. A steam mop for cleaning floors is 100% chemical free! Peroxide & vinegar makes a great glass cleaner.
E~ Eggs- Definitely choose organic. This includes meat, milk and cheeses too!
F~ Flax Seed Oil- A great way to get Omega 3 Fatty Acids without the risk of Mercury.
G~ Glassware- A nice alternative to plastic, especially in the kitchen when storing food.
H~ Hydrogen Peroxide- Purchase the large bottle and place on the spray nozzle from an old cleaner. Add 1/3 part White Distilled vinegar to make a powerful disinfectant and sanitizer. Definitely wash your fruits and veggies with it, and clean the kitchen & bath!
I~ Ice cubes from a plastic ice maker or ice trays are toxic, chill water in fridge instead.
J~ Juicer- Own one and use it regularly, even if it’s just a citrus juicer at first!
K~ “Kashi” brand cereals and snacks are a healthy, tasty alternative.
L~ Little changes add up. Pray that God will reveal what changes to make. He revealed small bits at the time to us. He was then faithful to give us the means to make the changes!
M~ Microwave- We moved it to another place in the kitchen to become more aware of how often we were using it. Finally, we moved it out and no longer have one!
N~ No more Soda– It robs calcium from the bones and also causes the body to become very acidic. Cancer and disease thrive on high acidity levels in the body.
O~ Organic-Go 100 % organic to get the most out of your fruits and veggies!
P~ Plastic- It leaches nasty little toxins in our food and drinks, especially when heated or chilled. We use stainless steal, leak proof thermoses instead of plastic bottles.
Q~ Question your doctor and research all medication’s side effects before taking them.
R~ eat Raw, organic fruits and veggies, especially green leafy veggies and dark berries.
S~ Sugar- Sugar and artificial sweeteners are out. Sugar actually feeds cancer! Stevia is a great alternative and is actually healthy. Stevia lowers the acidity levels in the body!
T~ Trans fats and Hydrogenated oil found in foods- just say no! Gluten is bad too.
U~ You can take control of your health, instead of being overwhelmed, be empowered!
V~ Vinegar- Apple Cider Vinegar alkalizes the body. We drink a cap full mixed in juice everyday along with 1 tbs. of fresh pressed flax seed oil. It also helps to shed extra lbs!!!

Y~ Yuck! After remaining on a healthy diet, tastes change. Our children crave healthy!
Z~ZZZs- A great night’s sleep is a wonderful way to boost an immune system!
